Tiered Cake

A tiered cake is built from two or more cake layers of decreasing size stacked on top of each other, typically supported internally by dowels, plates, or a central support rod so the structure can carry its own weight. Tiered cakes are common for weddings, milestone birthdays, and other events where a large guest count or a dramatic visual centerpiece is needed.
